- I-86 Diverging Diamond Interchange Project

The Idaho Transportation Department will begin the conversion of the I-86 Interchange on Yellowstone Avenue from the current
configuration to a diverging diamond on March 4th, 2013. The project is currently
expected to be completed by November of 2013. Please plan to either choose alternate routes or expect significant
traffic delays due to only one lane of travel in both directions being open.
Upon completion, the diverging diamond interchange will dramatically reduce traffic congestion on Yellowstone Avenue due to motorists
being able to travel onto the interstate in either direction unimpeded (see animation in video above). The vast majority of current
congestion occurs due to overflow from the left hand turn lanes blocking drivers who simply wish to travel north or south across the overpass.
