ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN CHUBBUCK AREA
The City of Chubbuck Streets Department spends most of the warm weather months either
directly repairing City streets or coordinating major road construction projects with
independant contractors. We always try to get these jobs completed with a minimum
of inconvenience to motorists, but some delays and detours are unavoidable. Listed
below are the 2011 road construction projects. Click here for
maps and more information.
- Hiline Road: Expect sections to be closed completely or closed to through traffic
- Siphon Road: Expect sections to be closed completely or closed to through traffic
YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY IS ONE OF OUR MAIN CONCERNS
The City Streets Department fields numerous questions every year regarding the safety
of children. Concerned parents enquire about the placement of children at
play signs or speed bumps.
National studies made in cities where children at play signs were widely posted in
residential areas show no reduction in pedestrian involved accidents or speeding
infractions. Speed bumps do more to reduce speeds, but little to heighten vehicle
operator awareness. Even more alarming is the recent increase in the number of
accidents due to the use of cellular phones and other electronics while driving.
The City encourages all parents to educate your children regarding the dangers of being
in the roadway and to notify the Police Department if
additional
patrol is needed in your neighborhood, school zone or anywhere else you witness reckless driving.
SNOW REMOVAL POLICY SUMMARY
The Streets Department makes every effort to keep City roadways as clear and safe as possible during
winter weather conditions. Please be aware of the following points in regard to City snow removal.
- High-traffic and known problem areas receive priority
- Vehicles parked in the roadway hinder snow removal
- Shoveling or blowing snow into the roadway is illegal
- Plowing may result in snow pushed in front of driveways
During snow emegencies,
the City requires that all vehicles and trailers be removed
from the roadway. Failure to remove vehicles may result in the vehicle or
trailer being towed at the owner's expense. For more detailed infromation and more suggestions, please feel free to view our
snow removal policy web page or call the streets department during regular business hours.

PLANNING TO DO SOME WINTER TRAVELING ... ALWAYS GET THE 511
The Idaho Transportation Department offers updated road conditions via the phone
by dialing 511 or (888) 432-7623. You can also get this information online on their 511 Interactive Map. It is strongly recommended that you check road conditions prior to traveling to avoid
delays due to extreme weather or road closure.
You should also ensure that your vehicle is ready for winter driving conditions. We encourage you to download the
Safe Winter Driving Checklist as a good
reference for winter vehicle maintenance. Vehicle accidents always increase when the weather gets colder and roads get icy.
The best way to avoid accidents is to decrease your speed and increase the spacing between your vehicle and other motorists.
