WHO DO I CONTACT TO SCHEDULE A FIRE INSPECTION?
Inspection Glass After you have aquired the proper paperwork from the City Planner's office, you will need to contact Fire Marshall Miller to schedule an inspection.  Fire inspections typically take at least thirty minutes and may take as long as several hours depending on the nature of the building and grounds being inspected.  Remember that fire inspections are done to protect you and your family's safety, it is in your interest to assist the process whenever possible.
Listed below are some of the key areas that will be looked at and some pointers to make the process easier and faster:
bullet  Be on time for your inspection.  If you are late you may have to reschedule
bullet  Be prepared.  Review Chubbuck City code as it relates to your inspection
bullet  Don't forget your property.  Research proper fireproof landscaping
bullet  Test your smoke detectors.  Get new batteries if needed
bullet  Examine fire extinguishers looking for the inspection dates.  Are they expired?
bullet  Can you clearly see your house numbers from the road?   If not, get new ones
bullet  Ensure that access and egress routes are not blocked or below standard
WHAT ARE THE CITY AND STATE LAWS REGARDING FIREWORKS?
Inspection Glass Fireworks are one of the most popular summer activities in our community.  Unfortunately, every year, fires are inadvertantly started and people are seriously injured throught the misuse of fireworks.  The State of Idaho and the City of Chubbuck have clear laws regarding the safe use of fireworks in our community in order to protect individuals and property.  Please take a moment to educate yourself regarding these laws.  Failure to comply with firework laws will result in citations, confiscation of illegal fireworks and possible civil liability for any damages that result from misuse of fireworks.
bullet  Fireworks may only be sold and used from June 24th to July 5th
bullet  Fireworks may be banned from certain areas if the fire risk is too great
bullet  Aerial and explosive fireworks are illegal and cannot be used in City limits
bullet  Modification of legal to use fireworks is also a criminal offense
bullet  Parents are legally liable for any damages made by their children
bullet  Selling fireworks without a permit is illegal under both State and City codes
bullet  We also encourage everyone to research general fireworks safety information
CAN I SCHEDULE A FIRE STATION TOUR FOR MY YOUTH GROUP?
Community Service
The Chubbuck Fire Department has always taken an active role in the community through education of our youth and events such as the City's Trunk or Treat giveaway and Fire Station open houses.  We are very willing to try to accomodate your youth group.  Please contact Fire Marshall Miller at least two weeks in advance for more information about scheduling a tour or other educational opportunities.
Burn permit information and city ordinances
If you would like to conduct a controlled burn in Chubbuck City limits, you must adhere to all the stipulations of City code (8.35.050) including the following:
bullet  Must be at least fifty feet (50') from any structure or combustible object
bullet  A competent person over age eighteen (18) shall be in attendance at all times
bullet  The winds shall not exceed ten (10) miles per hour at any time during the burn
bullet  No burning shall take place after sunset, before dawn, or between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm
bullet  A permit to engage in such burning shall be obtained from the fire chief or designee
To obtain a burn permit, you must appear in person at the Chubbuck Fire Department during regular business hours.   The permit application must be completed, signed and approved prior to any burning within City limits.  There is a five dollar fee for this permit which is valid for two weeks.  Burning without a permit (8.34.060) or burning prohibited materials (8.34.030) is a criminal offense.
Fire prevention, escape planning and safety tips
We have collected resources from the National Fire Protection Association for you to download.  Please take a few minutes to educate yourself and your family about these life saving safety tips.  Be prepared for an emergency by having an escape plan and testing your smoke alarms.  Be aware of common sources of home fires such as your kitchen, washer / dryer, bbq grill and candles.  You also should consider protecting your family from carbon monoxide gas poisoning.
